Eileen Benway, MD
Dr. Benway studied cello in undergraduate and graduate school, then attended UCSF Medical School and earned her MD in 1994. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland and has practiced community pediatrics in the Walnut Creek-Concord area for the last 14 years. She enjoys helping new parents find their way through the maze of conflicting advice on “Perfect Parenting,” drawing on her training and her experiences as the mother of two children (who are now grown and starting families of their own.)
Dr. Benway continues to be a cellist, performing chamber music with her husband and friends. You also may find her hiking at Point Reyes, playing with the sprinkler system in the office, or working in her garden at home.
Marian Birdsall, MD
Dr. Birdsall grew up in the Deep South and loves her life as a California transplant. She attended college and medical school at Tulane University in the city of New Orleans after being raised in Mississippi. She met her husband in medical school and followed him back to his home state of California where she completed her pediatric residency training at the University of California, Davis. Dr. Birdsall has been a Board Certified Pediatrician since 1997 and has been practicing pediatrics in the East Bay since 1999. Raising her two teenagers has been an insightful privilege and makes her a better Pediatrician.
Dr. Birdsall embraces the active outdoor California life that has been a strong influence in her pursuit of her professional niche in Wilderness Medicine. Outside of the office and family time, running, hiking, snow skiing and travelling are some of her favorites. She particularly enjoys incorporating her family into her adventures, which have included hiking the Inca Trail and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro with her 13 year old son. Her patients and their families continue to be part of her life adventure in medicine.
